After storm damage in 2015 Peter Morris Architects restored the Grade II listed Art Deco Parliament Hill Lido, in the wild setting of Hampstead Heath, London. We replaced the prison style security fencing with a lightweight and welcoming fin structure made from stainless Steel. The fins provide security and beauty, while from a distance they are almost invisible. Like the curved whispering wall of St. Paul's Cathedral, the curved fins creates an acoustic parabola effect, allowing sound waves to travel further, acting as a musical instrument, that whistles in the wind. "The Lido wall is gorgeous. It is the best example I know that security need not be blight, quite the contrary. Whoever made this choice should get an OBE." Joe Cohen. “The Lido is about outside leisure, in all weathers, for everyone. The new fence, by Peter Morris Architects, exemplifies the ethos of the Lido, by allowing views of the outside in” Paul Jeal.
